TERRELL COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — [UPDATE: Dec. 29, 5 p.m.]: Officers in Terrell County are conducting a death investigation following the discovery of a body near Wadsworth Road, according to law enforcement officials.

Investigators responded to the area after the body was discovered. Officers were seen centered around something just off the road.

It remains unclear where the body was found or who discovered it. The identity and gender of the person have not been released.

Officials have not determined what happened to the person or whether foul play, an accident or natural death was involved.

A section of Wadsworth Road is closed. Wadsworth Road is the only road in and out of the neighborhood.

The investigation is ongoing.

[UPDATE: Dec. 29, 3:55 p.m.]: Investigators on the scene have confirmed that a body was found in Terrell County near the Lee County line.

At this time, it is unclear whether there was foul play involved in this incident or not.

[ORIGINAL ARTICLE:] A heavy law enforcement presence was reported on the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 29 in Terrell County.

Officials would not disclose where in the county the incident is, but according to the Terrell County Coroner, the sheriff’s office is currently at the scene to investigate.

At this time, there has been no official word about what caused there to be a heavy law enforcement presence.

WALB reached out to officials in the area, including the Terrell County Sheriff’s Office, and no details were released.
