Sherita Goddard is now only allowed to operate a vehicle to go to work, church, court hearings, her attorney’s office and for medical care. Any vehicle she operates must also have a interlock on it. Which is a detection device that prevents a vehicle from starting if it detects any alcohol on a driver’s breath.

Goddard is not allowed to consume any alcoholic beverages, and she must take at home alcohol test at her own expense, records said.

Goddard is also not allowed to drive with anyone under the age of 18 inside her vehicle. Outside of the vehicle exceptions listed above, she is also under house arrest for 365 days.

Lastly, Goddard must obtain a substance abuse evaluation and follow the recommendations unless objected to.

A positive drug test, or failure to submit a sample for testing, will result in her immediate arrest.

  • Endangering a Child by Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs
  • Cruelty to Children 2nd Degree (felony)
  • Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs
  • Driving on Wrong Side of Roadway
  • Safety Belt Required

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said Goddard struck the vehicle with the family of three inside while driving on the wrong side of the road of Hwy-82 on Jan. 14.

Bernerdine Spann, 32, and her daughter Ja’Leah Spann, 13, were pronounced dead at the scene. Jaxton Spann, 7, was removed from the vehicle and airlifted to a hospital where he later passed away.
