ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A wanted man, arrested following a two-day search by Dougherty and Lee County law enforcement, will remain in jail for now.
A judge denied bond for Keyshawn Dye this morning in his first court appearance following his arrest.
WALB arrived on scene at the Shoreham Apartments shortly after authorities captured Dye in Albany on Wednesday. The manhunt for Dye started Tuesday afternoon when officers say he jumped out of a car and ran from a traffic stop on Liberty Expressway.
Dye was wanted on numerous charges — including two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer — after allegedly trying to run over two Georgia State Patrol troopers last year.
WALB obtained reports on June 12 from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) detailing Dye’s March 2024 incident with troopers. According to GSP’s report, troopers had to quote, “step out of the way to avoid being struck” by a Dye during a traffic stop on Lovers Lane Road in Lee County. After a chase and PIT maneuver, Dye ran into the woods, GSP said.
Following that incident, Dye faced multiple charges including “aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer,” the report said.
Dye’s charges in Dougherty County include third degree forgery, theft by possession of stolen mail, identity theft, probation violation and a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of law enforcement officers. He remains in the Dougherty County Jail.
