Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Keisha Lance Bottoms and Rick Jackson, who are both running to be the next governor of Georgia, are making campaign stops throughout the state Friday, Oct. 16.

Bottoms is visiting Albany, Tifton, and Perry Friday, while Jackson is stopping in Dalton in the afternoon to campaign with Mike Collins, who is running for U.S. Senate, and President Donald Trump.

It’s all part of Bottoms’ campaign through middle and south Georgia to encourage people to vote early ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm election.

Bottoms is also making stops in Tifton and Perry to discuss her plans to support rural areas and agriculture in the state. Bottoms says if elected, she plans to lower grocery costs and protect rural hospitals by expanding Medicaid.

At noon Friday, Bottoms will join voters in Albany to highlight her priorities and encourage people to make their voices heard by voting early.

Later in the afternoon, Bottoms will visit voters in Tifton to continue to emphasize the importance of early voting.

And Friday evening, Bottoms will make her final stop in Perry to attend the Georgia National Fair. At the fair, she plans to highlight her plans to support farmers, lower grocery, gas, and housing prices, expand Medicaid, and invest in the state’s educational system.

Bottoms, a Democrat and former mayor of Atlanta, is facing off against Republican Rick Jackson in the upcoming Nov. 3 election. This will be the first new governor Georgia has had since Brian Kemp took office in January of 2019.
