COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — [UPDATE: March 12 at 9:26 p.m.:] The boy was found safe, according to the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office.

In the update, the sheriff’s office said they “appreciate everyone’s insight and prayers.”

[ORIGINAL ARTICLE:] A 12-year-old boy with autism has gone missing from Colquitt County, the sheriff’s office reported on Thursday, March 12. Several local agencies are involved in the search for him, officials said.

The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said Bo Brown, 12, left his home at about 4:35 p.m. Thursday and has not been seen since.

CCSO said Brown’s home is on Paul Murphy Road. Authorities are reportedly searching in the 1100 block of Paul Murphy Road, between Walter Murphy Road and Tree Farm Road.

Brown was last seen wearing khakis and a blue polo shirt with no shoes on, according to CCSO. Officials said 911 was called about an hour after Brown left home.

CCSO said that multiple deputies, first responders and K-9 tracking teams are searching for the boy. Other agencies, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Georgia State Patrol Aviation, are also assisting with the search, CCSO said.

CCSO asked the community, especially those who live in the Paul Murphy Road area, to be on the lookout for Brown. Officials advised the public to check their immediate property for places Brown may be hiding.

CCSO specifically said the public should not go into wooded areas or out of their property lines so as to avoid interfering with the K-9 tracking teams and air support.
