BRANTLEY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE: 4/25/26: 7:22 P.M.] A mandatory curfew is now in place in parts of Brantley County as crews continue battling the Highway 82 wildfire.
According to an emergency alert from the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency, the curfew runs from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. and applies to affected areas only.
Officials say the restriction is due to hazardous conditions, ongoing fire operations, and low visibility in the area.
Residents are urged to stay off the roads during curfew hours to allow emergency crews to respond safely and effectively.

Officials in Brantley County say the wildfire in South Georgia has reached over 9500 acres.
According to a post from the Brantley County Sheriff’s Office Saturday morning, an overnight infrared flight mapped the fire at approximately 9,572 acres.
Infrared flights are conducted using specialized sensors that detect heat signatures, even through smoke and darkness, allowing fire crews to identify active fire lines, hotspots, and areas that may still pose a threat.
Officials say this information is critical for improving accuracy, guiding strategy, and ensuring resources are deployed where they’re needed most.
