LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) — The Lee County community celebrated Juneteenth on Saturday, June 13, with a festival and a parade through downtown Leesburg. The theme for the 2026 celebration was “Breaking chains, building legacy.”
The festivities began at 10 a.m. Saturday and featured Grand Marshal Dr. Ronnie Cotton, Parade Announcer Mrs. Karla Heath-Sands and Parade Visionary Lady Trish Batten.
Several community groups and local agencies were involved with the celebration, including 26 parade participants.
As the official Parade Announcer, WALB’s Karla Heath-Sands got an up-close view of the parade. She took pictures as dancers, motorcycle groups and more cruised by.
