CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) – Drivers in Camilla should prepare for several temporary road closures on December 8th, as the Camilla Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Christmas Parade.

The parade begins at 6:30 p.m., with road closures starting at 6:20 p.m.

This year’s parade will follow the city’s traditional route, beginning at the Mitchell County Board of Education on S. Harney Street. From there, floats and participants will travel:

• North on S. Harney St. to Stephens St.
• Turn left across Stephens St. to S. Scott St.
• Turn right onto S. Scott St. and continue northbound
• Turn right onto Broad St.
• Travel east on Broad St. to Perry St., where the parade will conclude

Roads Temporarily Closed:

• Broad St. from S. Butler St. to Perry St.
• S. Harney St. from Morgan St. to Broad St.
• Stephens St. from S. Scott St. to S. Harney St.
• S. Boulevard St. to Broad St.
• Oakland Ave. at N. Scott St.
• Oakland Ave. at N. Harney St.

Additionally, all traffic traveling northbound on Cairo Road / S. Boulevard St. will be rerouted to S. Butler St.

City officials encourage residents and visitors to plan ahead, expect delays, and use alternate routes during the parade window.

The event is expected to draw large crowds as the community kicks off its holiday festivities.
