FITZGERALD, Ga. (WALB) - The city of Fitzgerald took to Facebook on May 9 to announce their new splash pad at Boggus Park will be closed until further notice following an overnight incident.

The city shared photos of the muddied splash park, describing the incident as “vandalism.” They said the incident is being investigated, and they plan to file charges.

The city said the park will be under video surveillance from now on.

According to a Facebook post from the chamber of commerce, the splash pad had opened on May 1 — just over a week ago.

They ask that anyone with information about this incident call their anonymous tip line at 229-426-7090 or the Fitzgerald Police Department at 229-426-5000.
