ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Freezing temperatures are expected tonight on Dec 19 and also tomorrow on Dec 20. Due to the freezing conditions, the City of Albany will activate Operation Safe Place on Dec 19 and Dec 20 to provide people with a warm place to stay overnight.

The Albany Transit Center at 300 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The transit Center will resume regular operations at 7 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec 20.

The City of Albany will continue to monitor the weather to see if the warming center will need to be extended or if any additional days will need to be included.
