THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) - Thomasville residents will have the opportunity this week to review data and provide feedback on the city’s Multimodal Transportation Plan (MMTP).

The City of Thomasville Planning Department is set to host several public input sessions Tuesday through Thursday to discuss the plan, which city officials said is expected to “identify strategies and actions that make our streets safer, strengthen connections and expand travel options for everyone in Thomasville.”

The plan combines two important efforts: the MMTP for walking, driving, bicycling and personal vehicles such as golf carts throughout the city, along with a “Safe Streets for All” vision which the city said focuses on reducing crashes, serious injuries on roadways and eliminating fatalities, according to a press release from the city Monday.

City Planner Kenny Thompson said the purpose of the MMTP is to provide direction to city officials on how transportation policies, projects, initiatives and best practices should be implemented to make Thomasville’s streets safer and more connected.

“The MMTP will build on Thomasville’s strong foundation of citywide planning initiatives and complement the long-term goals and action items that are outlined in the Thomasville: Blueprint 2028,” he said.

Additionally, city officials are offering an online community survey for residents to share their transportation priorities and experiences, per the city’s website.
