DOUGLAS, Ga. (WALB) — Douglas police arrested Coffee County resident, Jermaine Johnson, after South Georgia State College reported that he followed a woman into the campus library and allegedly recorded her in a bathroom, according to police reports.

Investigators reviewed video that reportedly showed a man following the woman into the library before reaching under a stall with a cellphone on Sept. 8. Police identified the suspect through photographs, a vehicle description, and records linking the vehicle to Johnson.

Johnson was detained at the Pilgrim’s Pride parking lot around 1:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11. His cellphone was seized, and a search warrant was approved.

Police later found a second video on the phone that allegedly showed Johnson recording a different woman under a bathroom stall. Investigators said the surroundings appeared to be inside Pilgrim’s Pride, though no employees were present there on the date of that recording.

South Georgia State College Police said the suspect was not affiliated with the school. The college said campus police responded immediately, helped identify the individual, and worked with law enforcement after his arrest.

South Georgia State College said it takes the safety and well-being of its students, faculty, and staff very seriously. The college said it remains committed to maintaining a safe campus environment and will continue working closely with law enforcement to help protect the campus community.
