TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) - As Hurricane Isaias remains on track for a potential Alabama landfall, the University of Alabama announced that ESPN’s College GameDay is moving indoors.
Hurricane Isaias is projected to make landfall late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
The weekly pregame show will take place inside Alabama’s Coleman Coliseum from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday and will feature a familiar face as its guest picker.
Pat McAfee announced on The Pat McAfee Show Wednesday morning that Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young will serve as GameDay’s guest picker.
In recent years, College GameDay has aired from The Quad on Alabama’s campus. The move to Coleman Coliseum comes as Isaias strengthened overnight into a Category 2 storm.
ESPN told WBRC Tuesday that only severe weather would force College GameDay to change its plans.
University officials said there will be no overnight camping allowed and that fans can begin lining up at the north and east doors of Coleman at 5:15 a.m. Doors will open at 5:30 a.m.
A clear bag policy will be in effect for fans attending College GameDay, and bags will be inspected as fans enter the building.
Raffle tickets for Pat McAfee’s “Kicking is Easy” contest will be distributed at both entrances, and no tickets will be given out before 5:15 a.m.
Fans attending College GameDay and Saturday’s Alabama-Georgia game are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and visit @UA_Athletics and @UAGameday for the University of Alabama’s latest information.
