ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) -
TONIGHT: Temperatures will be very comfortable through the evening, around 70 degrees by midnight. Clouds float in along with a cold front after midnight which helps keep temperatures mild in the upper 50s and low 60s tonight, rain is not expected. Cold front passes late tonight. Windy, dry and cooler weather is in its wake for Saturday.
SATURDAY: Due to our prolonged dry spell and windy weather, there is a Red Flag Warning in effect from 11am-8pm Saturday. This means that the environmental conditions favorable for fires to start, and spread efficiently, is present. Burning is strongly advised against. Highs will be much cooler, only in the low 70s on Saturday along with a persistent breeze with wind gusts up to 30 mph. Clouds hang on for the first half of the day, before gradually clearing in the later afternoon.
SUNDAY: Winds relax a bit Sunday, but still very dry and sunny skies likely bringing another day of high fire danger. Be extremely careful if you must burn on this day. Otherwise, a chilly start in the 40s is expected Sunday with highs rebounding into the mid 70s.
NEXT WEEK: More southerly winds bring in more moisture and warmer air into SGA during the upcoming work week. This leads to isolated-scattered chances for a showers and maybe even a stray thunderstorm throughout the work week, primarily in the afternoons. This week could bring isolated and beneficial rainfall to some, but widespread, drought-relieving rainfall is unlikely this week. As a result, the drought will still likely worsen for many in SGA. Temperatures look to be warm, highs in the 80s and lows in the upper 50s and 60s.
