CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) – Authorities are investigating an incident involving a deceased person found near the intersection of 8th Street and 12th Avenue in Cordele.

According to the Cordele Police Department (CPD) officers responded to a report of an unresponsive person lying in the area. Upon arrival, they confirmed the individual, later identified as Edward Carter of Cordele, was dead. Carter’s family has been notified.

At this time, the cause of death remains undetermined. However, law enforcement stated there are no immediate signs of foul play. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was called in to assist and helped process the scene.

The Cordele Police Department’s Investigations Division is actively working to uncover the circumstances surrounding Carter’s death. Investigators are urging the public to come forward with any information that might aid the case.
