DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — The Virginia councilman who was set on fire in a brutal attack will likely be in the hospital for the next six months, according to his wife, Blair Vogler.
In a new update on the GoFundMe for Vogler, his wife, Blair, says Lee will likely be in the hospital for the next six months because of the burns that cover more than half of his body.
"Lee’s injuries will permanently impact his and his family’s lives, and the sheer amount of financial resources required for long-term care is difficult to even estimate," Blair Vogler said.
On July 30, Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler was attacked by a man who poured gasoline on him and set him on fire.
Police later identified the suspect as 29-year-old Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes.

Hayes has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding, according to police.
The GoFundMe for Vogler has raised over $100 thousand, and the goal has now increased to $250 thousand, because of how much they expect recovery and loss of work to cost.
