ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - WALB’s Katelyn Barker is in court covering the trial proceedings for the 2018 Devi’s Convenience Store murder case. May 23, 2025 is the third day of the trial.

DAY THREE:

During court, we heard from a very powerful and credible witness who became the lead detective in this case in 2021. The same year the defendant Bernardo Thompson was arrested.

Today, interrogation footage was presented where multiple witnesses brought up Bernardo Thompson’s walk.

Those individuals said the defendant walks on his tippy toes, but the defense claims the walk seen on video surveillance is not unique.

DAY TWO:

During May 22’s testimony, one friend and witness stated that she saw Bernardo Thompson at her house on the night of the murder with guns and wearing latex gloves. Later, said she didn’t believe Thomas was the guy in the surveillance video, and that he may be covering up for someone.

DAY ONE:

For the first time in seven years since the shooting of Meesha Patel, jurors heard arguments from both the state and the defense. The state called multiple witnesses, with one saying he explicitly heard the suspect, Bernardo Thompson, sound agitated about the way the crime happened. READ MORE
