Crisp Academy defeated Georgia Christian 53-50 Thursday night, ending a 10-game losing streak for the Wildcats.

The biggest story of the night was junior guard Reese Reed scoring his 1,000th career point. The milestone came in the third quarter, prompting coach Jordan to call a timeout so Reed could be honored at center court.

“It’s amazing. It’s something I never thought of. I’m only a junior, and it’s God’s plan,” Reed said. “It’s amazing. Next day at school, it’s going to be amazing. I’m thankful for everybody that came out, my grandparents. Big support to my mom and dad for getting me here, and my brother for always supporting me.”

Reed finished with a game-high 25 points, including six three-pointers. He opened the scoring with a three-pointer and continued his strong shooting throughout the game.

Georgia Christian’s Adrien Trejo contributed with drives to the paint, while Crisp Academy’s Kane Bridges added an elbow jumper to extend an early 9-4 lead.

In the second quarter, Henry Griffin found freshman Cam Gentry inside, who returned the ball to Griffin for a deep three-pointer.

The Generals fought back in the fourth quarter, but Crisp Academy’s distance shooting proved decisive as Reed connected on another three-pointer late in the game.
