CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A man is behind bars following a chase with Crisp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies.
According to the sheriff’s office, just before 9:30 a.m. on July 2, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet Malibu that was driving 97 miles per hour in a 70-mile-per-hour zone near mile marker 100 on I-75.
The driver was identified as 33-year-old Chris Core, of Fairburn, Ga.
CCSO said Core failed to yield and instead sped up to 100 mph, leading to a pursuit.
The chase then went into Turner County and ended safely, according to CCSO.
“We extend our gratitude to the Georgia State Patrol and the Turner County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance,” said CCSO.
Core was arrested and taken to the Crisp County Jail.
CCSO said this is an ongoing investigation, and charges are pending.
