ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Today has been the hottest day so far this year as highs hit 99°F in Albany and Valdosta hit 100°F. Daytime heating and a sea breeze out of the Gulf are firing up a few strong to severe evening storms. Storms may feature some damaging winds and large hail. Overnight, rain chances should come to an end as temperatures dip into the muggy mid-70s.

Thursday is another hot and humid day, with highs in the low 90s. However, due to increased rain chances, temperatures are expected to stay below the mid-90s. The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of South Georgia under a Marginal Risk for Thursday as damaging winds, hail, and flash flooding return with evening showers and storms. More showers and storms are possible through the weekend with near-average highs in the low 90s.
