Description

WEDNESDAY PM: Mostly sunny for South Georgia this afternoon. Some areas to the east can see a few cooling pop up showers from moisture entering from the Atlantic coast. Temperatures will top off in the low to mid 90s. Feels-like temps will near triple digits.

LATE WEEK: Mornings will start off warm and muggy in the mid 70s. More sunshine is in store with highs near the mid 90s. There will be little opportunity for popcorn showers in the afternoon hours, leaving plenty of time for the heat to ramp up and stick around. This will be a good time to make sure outdoor plans include frequent breaks in the shade or indoors and wear light colored, breathable clothing.

SAT/SUN: Continue your heat illness prevention protocols this weekend. Saturday still looks to be the hottest and muggiest day in store for our heat stretch. Heat index values will surpass the century mark for many. Some areas may see 104°+. There will be a chance for pop up showers to cool off a few places but sunny skies will remain. Sunday looks to be a better chance for showers and storms, keeping temperatures a tad cooler. Nonetheless, it is still another day with feels-like temperatures in the triple digits.

EARLY WEEK: Temperatures will cool off some and return to the 80s in the afternoon. More opportunity for showers and storms in the afternoon hours.

TROPICS: This morning, the National Hurricane Center highlighted a chance of tropical development in the Bay of Campeche near Mexico. There are no threats to our area with this system. Chance of development in the next 7 days is 10%.
