ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Day 2 of WALB’s Annual Days of Giving Food Drive is officially underway, as the community continues to rally behind the effort to fight hunger across South Georgia.
Wednesday marked a strong start to the sixth year of WALB’s partnership with Feeding the Valley. On Day 1, the food drive received more than $5,000 in monetary donations, and organizers say they are already on track to match last year’s total number of donated canned goods.
The food drive resumes today at 7 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. Donations can be dropped off on the front lawn of WALB News 10, located at 1709 Stuart Ave., Albany, GA 31707., where volunteers will be accepting items throughout the day.
Below is a list of items that are acceptable for donation:
- Peanut butter
- Jelly/jam
- Tuna fish
- Canned fruit
- Canned meats
- Dry/powdered milk
- Evaporated milk
- Pasta
- Canned soup
- Rice
- Crackers
- Cereal
- Oatmeal
- Dry or canned beans
- Macaroni and cheese
Feeding the Valley asks that you avoid bringing glass containers.
