Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — The car crash on Pine Avenue last Tuesday night, Sept. 8, that killed 23-year-old Brett Lane Sims also caused damage to two buildings on the street.
According to witnesses, Sims’ car crashed into a pole before hitting a car wash and Ponder Auto Repair & Tires, owned by Ronald Ponder.
Ponder has been in business there for 16 years. He says this isn’t the first accident that he’s seen.
“From my knowledge, there’s been an accident here at least three times coming around this corner. People always come around here with a high rate of speed,” said Ponder.
Now, Ponder is hoping the city will take steps to make the intersection safer. He believes the area is in desperate need of some kind of guardrails or barriers to prevent more incidents like this one.
