ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — A 26-year-old man is dead and two other men are injured following a shooting late Sunday night in Albany, according to police.

The Albany Police Department said officers responded around 10:42 p.m. on Sept. 13 to a report of a shooting in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, near Johnny W. Williams Road.

Authorities confirmed the 26-year-old victim was shot and succumbed to his injuries. Two other men were also struck by gunfire and transported to local hospitals. Their conditions have not been released.

Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler said his office received the call around 10:57 p.m. and confirmed multiple shell casings were located across the active scene.

More than 10 Albany police units blocked off the area with crime scene tape late Sunday while investigators gathered evidence and interviewed bystanders as a large crowd gathered nearby.

The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released pending official notification of next of kin.
