THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) - Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead Wednesday evening in Thomasville, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The incident transpired at about 10 p.m., the GBI wrote in a press release Thursday.

Around that time, Thomasville Police responded to a call regarding an unresponsive person on West Clay Street near the CSX rail yard, the agency said. Officers then arrived at that area, where they found a man “who was pronounced dead at the scene.”

In a statement to WCTV just before noon Thursday, GBI officials confirmed that the death is being investigated as a homicide.

The agency also said it is withholding the victim’s identification at this time.

As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests have been made, according to the agency.

Since then, the man’s body is expected to be taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to be conducted.

This is an ongoing investigation.
