ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Three Albany State University students are being recognized for achievements on a national level.

Darren Smith was chosen from more than 2,700 applicants nationwide to serve in the 2026 BET Next Gen Ambassador program.

Nia Blunt was selected for MIT’s summer research program.

Edreka Coleman is Albany State University’s first female head drum major.
