Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Dougherty County School system says they believe students will be able to attend class at Alice Coachman Elementary School on Friday, Dec. 5 after a foul odor was detected on the campus Friday morning.
The school system sent the following statement to parents on Dec. 5.
“A malfunctioning dehumidifier has caused a foul odor throughout Alice Coachman Elementary School. Out of an abundance of caution, the Albany Fire Department was called to determine if the malfunctioning equipment posed a threat of fire. It has been determined that there is no threat of fire; however, due to the strong odor, students have been temporarily placed on buses until the building can be deodorized.
All students and employees are safe. We will update you when the all clear is given and normal operations resume.”
WALB will provide updates as we learn more.
