Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Dougherty County and the city of Albany leaders said they are working on a plan to promote growth and development in the area.
Leaders said the 2046 Comprehensive Plan will address a range of issues including housing, economic development, quality of life and more.
A key area identified in the plan is housing. Leaders said there is a growing housing demand in Dougherty County and Albany for young professionals and senior citizens. The plan would also address housing options to bridge the gap between single-family homes and apartments.
Specifically, the plan focuses on multifamily housing for young professionals and affordable senior housing for residents who want to stay in the community.
The plan must be adopted by the end of June to ensure eligibility for state grants and permits.
