Description
DOUGLAS, Ga. (WALB) - A Douglas fire truck ended up in an unexpected situation during a career day event at Satilla Elementary School on Wednesday, May 13, turning the moment into an impromptu lesson on teamwork and emergency response for students.
Officials say around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Douglas fire truck was parking on campus for the school’s career day when it fell into a septic tank hole on school grounds.

The visit was part of Satilla Elementary’s career day, which brings in local agencies and businesses to introduce students to a variety of professions, including public safety careers.
Instead of disrupting the event, the incident became an opportunity for students to see real-world problem solving in action. Fire crews and school officials worked together to safely secure the area and coordinate efforts to remove the truck.
Students watched as emergency personnel responded calmly and worked step-by-step to get the vehicle out and fill the hold, giving them a firsthand look at teamwork, communication and coordination under pressure.
According to officials, no one was injured.
