ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Early voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Georgia, where voters will decide who becomes the state’s next governor, choose a U.S. senator and weigh in on several other statewide races.

Voting continues through Oct. 30, with polls also open for early voting on two Saturdays. Voters can review their sample ballots on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website before heading to the polls.

The governor’s race between Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms and Republican Rick Jackson has included debate over Medicaid expansion. Both candidates have pledged to expand coverage, but they disagree on how to do it.

“There are 300,000 people in the state who don’t have coverage because we didn’t expand Medicaid,” Bottoms said during the debate hosted by Atlanta News First.

Jackson said he also plans to expand Medicaid, but wants to avoid losing federal funding. “I just want to do it in a way that we don’t lose $4.5 billion that we’re currently getting,” he said.

In Atlanta News First’s U.S. Senate debate, Democratic incumbent Jon Ossoff and Republican Congressman Mike Collins criticized each other’s parties and voting records. Both said prices are too high, but disagreed on the reasons.

“My opponent is a radical and he has left our state less safe, more expensive, and worse off,” Collins said.

Ossoff criticized Collins’ background and votes.

“This is a Congressman’s son who inherited a seat in Congress who now runs his daddy’s trucking company, who voted seven times for the war in Iran who voted for the tariffs,” said Ossoff.

The candidates are entering the final stretch of the campaign as early voting gets underway. Election Day is Nov. 3.
