ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Jury selection and the state’s opening statements wrapped up Thursday, August 14 in the murder trial of Dougherty County mother, Evelyn Odom.

Odom is accused of killing her daughter, Kenyatta “Keke” Odom, nearly 37 years ago.

She stands trial facing the following charges:

• Felony murder
• First-degree cruelty to children
• Aggravated battery
• Conspiracy to commit a crime
• Concealing the death of another

Odom has entered a not guilty plea on all counts.

Once, opening statements concluded, the state called on two witnesses who were both present on the day that Kenyatta “KeKe” Odom’s body was found by loggers on Dec. 21, 1988.

Today, WALB is back in the courtroom for day two of testimony.
