Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A few flurries flew over SGA today, it wasn’t enough to impact travel or infrastructure. The story is the hazardous cold as we enter into next week.
TONIGHT- As of 7pm Saturday, actual temperatures are already below freezing with some areas seeing a Hard Freeze starting to set up (temperatures 25 degrees or less). Temperatures continue to drop into the teens with wind chills in the single digits pushing near zero in our far northern communities. This will be the coldest night of the year so far with a widespread Hard Freeze expected for 12-15 hours starting this evening throughout Sunday morning. Make sure to trickle the pipes tonight.
SUNDAY/MONDAY- Sunday will still be frigid, wind chills are expected to be near or below freezing throughout the day. Actual temperatures scrape into the low 40s tomorrow afternoon.
Another widespread Hard Freeze is likely Sunday night, where temperatures dive near 20 degrees. Winds will be weaker Sunday night, around 5 MPH, so the wind chills will not be quite as brutal. Sunday night will be another night you need to drip the pipes.
Temperatures rebound into the 50s Monday afternoon and our First Alert Weather Day will be over before lunch time.
WORK WEEK- Temperatures become more mild through the early work week, pushing into the 60s Tuesday and potentially on Wednesday. Rain looks likely on Wednesday ahead of our next frontal system, bringing us another round of cold air to end the work week (does not look as intense as the one we are experiencing now). Check back in with us for more updates, it is too far out to have a confident forecast for Wednesday.
