EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -Despite bone-chilling temperatures, families and students flocked outdoors to experience a rare snowfall that blanketed the area.
Our crews went out to Evans Towne Center Park to see how people were enjoying the snow.
“We’re freezing,” said Presleigh Enfinger and Nola Anderson as they braved the cold conditions.
The frigid weather didn’t deter families and students from making the most of the unusual winter event. Many described the harsh conditions they faced while enjoying the snow.
“The wind blowing is just like ice right now,” said Kane Williams. “I can’t feel my hands,” added Vivian Ali.
Parents brought children outside to experience activities typically unavailable in the region. Patrick Morgan joked about the weather while describing his family’s plans.
“There’s snow place like home,” Morgan said.
The Morgan family came prepared for winter fun. “What do you want to do outside today? Build a snowman. Build a snowman. That’s what we came here for. Build a snowman. And also just eat all that snow,” said Emmett and Patrick Morgan.
Some residents brought their pets to enjoy the weather. Kayleigh Williams and Kane Williams described their dog’s enthusiasm for the conditions.
“Yeah, he’s thriving in it. Oh, he loves it. Yeah, he’s got husky in him. This is his absolute best. As you can see, his little coat as well,” they said.
Augusta University students took advantage of the rare snowfall to create winter memories. Vivian Ali and Cameron Clemons attempted traditional snow activities despite mixed results.
“We were trying to make a snowman it didn’t really go our way but we’re gonna try and do something with it but we just came out here to have fun, throw snowballs around,” they said.
For some, the snow provided a connection to home. Patrick Morgan, who has experience with winter weather, shared his excitement about teaching his child about snow activities.
“I love it. I grew up in the Midwest, so this is perfect. Snowball, wet snow, snow fights, snow forts, teach him how to freeze properly. Are you cold? Yes,” the Morgan family said.

Others experienced their first significant snowfall in the area. Ali described her perspective as someone from a warmer climate.
“I’m from Florida, so this is kind of like my first time living somewhere that it snows. So it’s been really fun,” she said.
Some even experienced the snow last year.
Me and him were here last year when it did snow. So we did get to see it then, but normally it doesn’t really snow. So this is kind of, you know, unexpected,” said Cameron Clemons.
Despite the cold conditions, residents expressed appreciation for the rare weather event.
“It’s really fun. Yeah, it’s really fun. We never really get snow like this ever,” they said.
