Description
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Reagan Danielle Gray, a former volunteer for Little Rock's Immanuel Baptist Church, pleaded no contest on Monday to a charge of second-degree sexual assault.
A plea of no contest, in this context, is the same as a guilty plea. A no-contest plea allows Gray not to specifically admit or deny allegations.
Court documents state that Gray was charged with grooming and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy when she worked as the church's youth music ministry leader. She was 23 at the time of the abuse. The timeline began in 2020 and continued into 2021.
Gray was initially charged with first and fourth-degree sexual assault, but an agreement with prosecutors saw the charges downgraded to second-degree sexual assault.
She has been sentenced to six years of probation, a $1,000 fine, and has been placed on the sex offender registry. She was also required to submit a DNA sample and ordered to have no contact with the victim.
You can read the no-contest plea below:
According to court documents, the victim's parents discovered a series of "highly inappropriate" texts and Snapchat messages between Gray and their child, which they reported to the church's leadership.
Court documents also states that Gray sexually assaulted the victim multiple times. Gray was removed from the youth ministry and was told to undergo counseling. After a short period of time, Gray was allowed to return to the church.
According to evidence presented in the trial, Immanuel Baptist Church follows a procedure when an allegation of abuse or a violent crime is brought forward against a volunteer. The Immanuel Safe Sanctuary Committee decides after an internal investigation if the person in question is allowed to continue volunteering or not.

Immanuel Baptist is currently involved in two ongoing lawsuits alleging the church engaged in the cover-up of sexual abuse. Gray is named in one of these suits.
In the other suit, Assistant Children's Minister Patrick Stephen Miller is accused of "criminal sexual assault on Immanuel's grounds" as well as grooming daughters of several deacons. Miller has pled not guilty to second degree sexual assault and kidnapping.
