Former State Senator and grandson of President Jimmy Carter, Jason Carter, has endorsed Jason Esteves in his campaign for Georgia governor.

According to a release, Jason Carter announced his endorsement for Esteves on Wednesday, calling him the "strongest candidate" for the job.

“I’m proud to endorse Jason Esteves to be our next governor — the strongest candidate to meet this moment and build the coalition Democrats need to win next year," said Carter. "He’s the new generation of leadership that Georgia needs, and he still has a long record of fighting for our families."

Esteves released a statement accepting Carter's endorsement.

“It’s an honor to be endorsed by Jason Carter, a dedicated public servant and friend," said Esteves. "Jason and his family’s legacy of public service is an inspiration to me and countless Georgians across our state."
