TERRELL COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — The family of Brenton J. Truitt has released funeral arrangements following his death in a Terrell County crash last week.
Truitt, 29, died July 27 after a three-vehicle crash in Terrell County, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP). He was a member of the Randolph-Clay football coaching staff and the son of Red Devils Head Coach Charles Truitt.
‘He was a glue. He was a light’
Brentavious Glanton, Truitt’s childhood friend and former teammate, spoke with WALB on behalf of the family. The two grew up together—born just two weeks apart—and remained close through high school, college and beyond.
“From diapers all the way up to the sandbox and beyond—middle school, high school, even all the way up into the collegiate level. We’ve definitely been side by side for quite some time,” Glanton said. “To describe Brenton as a person, I would say he was a glue. He was a light.”
Glanton said Brenton Truitt made an impact on everyone he met.
“His light and energy was very infectious, and he poured into a lot of people,” Glanton said. “He was a very good friend to a lot of others, and he definitely and truly will be missed.”
As the community continues to show support, Glanton said the family is grateful.
“I want to say: We appreciate the support and the love and everything that the community has been pouring out,” Glanton said. “The efforts don’t go unnoticed.”
Glanton encouraged the community to attend services and carry forward the example Brenton set.
“Be the light like Brenton would be—help support others, bring them with you,” he said.

Funeral arraignments are open to the public, Glanton said. The community is invited to honor Brenton J. Truitt at the following services:
Candlelight Memorial
- Friday, Aug. 7, at 8 p.m
- Monroe Comprehensive High School, Albany
Funeral Service
- Saturday, Aug. 8, at noon
- Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 901 South Westover Boulevard, Albany
