Description
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A special Georgia House study committee is coming to Augusta to take a hard look at the state’s healthcare system.
The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Community Health and Healthcare Oversight will meet Wednesday, starting at 9 a.m. at the Jaguar Student Activities Center on Augusta University’s Summerville Campus.
Chairman Mark Newton of Augusta will lead the hearing.
Lawmakers plan to hear from hospitals, doctors, EMS leaders and other stakeholders on two big issues:
- How to recruit and keep the next generation of physicians in Georgia
- How to strengthen emergency medical services in every county, including state-level policies and oversight.
The committee’s broader goal is to evaluate Georgia’s health care landscape, look for ways to improve access to care, boost patient protections and find practical policy solutions to improve outcomes and accountability across the state.
The meeting is open to the public, and a livestream will also be available through the General Assembly’s website.
