Description

(CNN) - Gas prices are rising again, just as millions of Americans get ready for Memorial Day travel.

AAA said Thursday the national average for regular gas hit $4.56 a gallon. That is the highest level in nearly four years and a new high since the Iran conflict began.

Currently, every U.S. state has an average price above $4 a gallon.

Since the conflict with Iran started, prices have increased by more than 50%.

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted global energy markets and pushed up the cost of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.

GasBuddy expects prices to ease slightly but says drivers will still be dealing with the second-highest Memorial Day gas prices on record.
