GEORGIA. (WALB) - One person has died in a crash during the Memorial Day holiday weekend, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

The agency is tracking traffic incidents throughout the holiday weekend.

DUI arrests have increased from 89 to 185, according to the department’s latest report.

Memorial Day weekend traffic statistics

The Georgia Department of Public Safety reported the following numbers:

• 185 DUI arrests
• 234 distracted driving citations
• 285 seatbelt citations
• 123 crashes
• 1 crash fatality
• 64 crash injuries
• 12 crashes involving impaired drivers

Officials are urging drivers to use a designated driver, call a rideshare and never let friends drive impaired.

Troopers and officers are continuing to patrol across Georgia through the holiday weekend.
