ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Georgia ranks among the top 10 highest-risk states for pregnancy in the U.S., according to a new analysis.
The state has a high-risk pregnancy score of 71.83 out of 100, placing Georgia at 10th place nationwide. The study was conducted by the Birth Injury Lawyers Group.
The analysis examined factors like preterm birth rates, adequacy of prenatal care and severe maternal complications. Only 62 to 67 percent of expectant mothers receive adequate prenatal care.
