GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The September 2026 Superior Court term in Grady County has wrapped up, with more than 40 cases resolved, including a jury trial that ended in a guilty verdict.
South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney Joseph K. Mulholland prosecuted the case against Charles Lenwood Nix Jr., who was charged with failing to register as a sex offender. After hearing the evidence, a Grady County jury found Nix guilty.
Judge Heather Lanier presided over the trial. Nix was sentenced to 30 years, with 20 years to serve.
The District Attorney’s Office said this is Nix’s second conviction for failing to register as a sex offender. More than 40 cases were resolved during the September term, with prosecutors, courts, law enforcement, victim advocates and other criminal justice partners working together throughout the process.
District Attorney Joseph K. Mulholland thanked those involved in bringing the cases to resolution, including law enforcement officers and agencies, victim advocates, Judge Lanier, court personnel, jurors and the attorneys and staff of the District Attorney’s Office.
The South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office said it will continue working with law enforcement, the courts, victims and community partners to handle criminal cases and pursue justice.
