ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A student is in custody after a gun was fired in a bathroom at a private Christian school in Spalding County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.
Around 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to a call of a shot fired in a bathroom at Skipstone Academy, a private Christian K-12 school on Baptist Camp Road in Griffin.
Deputies entered the bathroom where staff said the gun was fired and reportedly found a student inside. They took the student into custody and seized a firearm.
No students were injured, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said the student in custody left a suicide note.
“The student involved left a suicide note intending to kill himself, but thank God he did not, and no other students were injured,” deputies said in a statement.
The student has been taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Classes at the school have been canceled for Thursday and Friday, the sheriff’s office said.
The incident comes nearly two weeks after a student allegedly fired a gun in an elementary school bathroom in Gwinnett County.
