ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - [Update 3/30/26] According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), on Monday, March 30, around 2:10 p.m., troopers were alerted that a white Honda Civic was speeding on Palmyra Road.

GSP says troopers identified the car at 70 mph in a 35 mph zone and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, leading to a pursuit. Troopers say the car drove into the Superior Creek Lodge parking lot, circling the property several times before exiting back onto Palmyra Road.

A PIT maneuver was attempted but was unsuccessful. GSP says the vehicle was later found by Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office deputies at the motel.

The driver ran inside on foot and was later identified. A female was found inside the vehicle. Warrants will be sought by the Georgia State Patrol and the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office.

[Original article] A routine traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase that ended at the Superior Creek Lodge on Slappey Boulevard in Albany, according to the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver jumped out of the car and ran away from the officers.

The man has not been identified and remains on the run. The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office initiated the traffic stop. Albany Police Department officers and Georgia State Patrol officers joined to help during the chase.
