ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Home décor shoppers in Southwest Georgia will soon have a new place to browse for furniture, décor and household essentials as HomeGoods prepares to open its first Albany location.

The new HomeGoods store will officially open on Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Cross Station Shopping Center, located at 2800 Old Dawson Road, Suite 4D.

The approximately 30,000-square-foot store will feature a wide variety of merchandise, including furniture, rugs, lighting, decorative accessories, kitchen and dining items, bedding, bath products, pet accessories, storage solutions, outdoor décor, gourmet foods, wellness products and more.

Known for its “treasure hunt” shopping experience, HomeGoods offers brand-name and designer merchandise at prices generally 20% to 60% lower than those of full-price retailers, according to the company.

“Our amazing values, brand names, and vast assortment make HomeGoods an exciting destination for shoppers,” said John Ricciuti, President of HomeGoods. “With a large variety of merchandise from around the world, customers will always find thrilling values in our treasure hunt shopping experience. We are happy to provide Albany with a new HomeGoods.”

The grand opening celebration is scheduled for Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Following opening day, the store’s regular hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily, though those hours may vary.

The new location is also expected to create approximately 65 full- and part-time jobs in the Albany area.

As part of its opening, HomeGoods is investing in the local community with a $10,000 donation to The X For Boys through its Find Home Anywhere initiative. The nonprofit works to mentor young men by teaching leadership, responsibility and community involvement.

Throughout the year, the Albany HomeGoods store will also participate in fundraising efforts benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, supporting programs that provide a “home away from home” for patients and their families during treatment.

The Albany location marks another retail addition to the Cross Station Shopping Center and gives Southwest Georgia residents a new destination for discounted home furnishings and décor.
