Description
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - As the heat continues to soar in Georgia, so are some people’s electric bills.
Georgia Power bills are high right now for a few reasons, including rate increases, seasonal energy use, infrastructure developments and economic factors like inflation.
While those prices may seem beyond our control, there are still ways to save money.
When you’re not home, turn off lights and keep curtains closed.
Make sure your windows and doors are sealed tightly. You can use caulk and weather-stripping to prevent air leaks.
Also, save by washing full loads of clothes in cold water and clean your lint trap to increase dryer efficiency.
For similar large appliances, try using them before 2 p.m. And after 7. Doing so can keep the temperature inside your home cooler.
Now, Georgia Power has a few tools customers can use to save electricity that you may not know about such as their EASE program which provides free home upgrades like LED light bulbs, heating and cooling system service and attic insulation.
They also have several rate options and a tool called My Power Usage that can help you track and manage energy consumption.
