Organizers of the event in Albany said they saw that vigils were being held across the nation, and they wanted to bring one to the Good Life City.
Some attendees wore shirts honoring the beloved activist while others held signs and waved American flags.
Organizers added that this event was not meant to be political. They said it was a call to action for Christians to come together.
“I don’t care who you vote for. This is not a political issue,” one attendee said. “But if you want the United States to be the way that you want for your children, you have a responsibility. You need to attend city and county government meetings. You’ve got to... Model the change that you want to see. The opportunity is right here… In closing, I’m going to share my favorite quote from Charlie: ‘If the most important thing for you is just feeling good, you’re gonna end up miserable. But if the most important thing is doing good, you’ll end up purposeful.’”
