TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) — The Tifton Police Department (TPD) is investigating cell phone video that appears to show officers repeatedly hitting a suspect while he is lying face down.

According to the Tifton Police Department, the suspect involved is James Milton, who now faces:

• Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers - Misdemeanor
• Drugs: Marijuana Possession of less than 1oz

TPD said it was originally responding to 1110 College Circle in reference to a domestic incident.

WALB has reached out to the Tifton Police Department for more information, but they say the case is undergoing an internal review.

“We have received your open records request regarding the incident on Old Omega Road near Nine Oaks Apartments. At this time, we are providing the initial incident report and any other records currently available for release related to this incident. Additional records, including any video, will be reviewed for release in accordance with the Georgia Open Records Act after the department’s internal review and any applicable legal review are complete.”
