Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — The Junior League of Albany hosted its “Kids in the Kitchen” event at the Albany Mall, aimed at teaching children the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.
Organizers say the event is designed to introduce children to better habits at a young age, including making healthier food choices and staying active. Kids rotated through interactive stations where they learned how to build healthy yogurt parfaits, practiced different exercises, and connected with community helpers who encourage active living.
Shae Peden, a member of the Junior League of Albany, said the turnout was encouraging.
“Absolutely. So I look around and I’m actually from Albany originally, so seeing all of these young faces that are excited to get out here and learn something new and to get introduced to maybe new foods or new activities is really exciting and encouraging to see how interested they really are,” Peden said.
Junior league members said they hope events like this continue to inspire Albany’s next generation to develop lifelong healthy habits that will benefit them and the community.
