NEW YORK (TND) — A man in New York was arrested after he set fire to a property because the tenants weren't paying rent and refused to move out, according to authorities.
The New York Fire Department said Rafiqul Islam is facing an arson charge, as well as an attempted murder charge.
In a social media post, the department said Islam "was angry his 2nd floor tenants stopped paying rent, refused to move out, so he set fire to an interior staircase" to a building in Brooklyn.
Authorities said two adults and six children were home at the time of the fire.
The fire department said they all escaped the home.
