ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Lea Henry is hosting her annual Camp of Champs. Local athletes all across South Georgia gathered at Deerfield-Windsor Upper School to learn new skills.

The event is part of Henry’s mission to give back to the sport that has given so much to her. Of the 41 times the camp has taken place, there’s one category that continues to grow each year.

“Sixty campers this week, and we take boys and girls ages 5 to 18 and half of the camp are girls. And in the past, it’s been more predominantly boys. And of course, we still have a large number, but it’s nice to see the young girls being engaged and active and really enjoy playing the game of basketball,” said Henry.

If you missed week one, you still have a chance to attend the camp.

As it continues July 14-17, walk-in campers are welcome, or you can preregister. The event is open to ages 5 through 18. It starts at 9 am Monday through Thursday.
